The firm’s principal is Jeffrey Potts. Jeff has extensive experience as a merger-and-acquisition (M&A)/business brokerage specialist. He has facilitated more than 100 business transactions covering a variety of industries, ranging from $2 million to exceeding $100 million in value.
Jeff commenced his M&A career at Santa Fe based Dirks, Van Essen & Murray, a boutique M&A advisory firm for the newspaper industry. He served as vice-president before returning to California to establish his own practice, JP Media Partners. JP Media Partners has and continues to focus exclusively on brokering the sale of newspaper and on-line media transactions throughout the United States. He later founded Gold Country Advisors to expand his expertise and serve a broader base of business and industry in Northern California.
Prior to his career M&A career, Jeff held management positions with Freedom Communications, Inc., and was a newspaper reporter/business writer for USA TODAY and the Desert Sun in Palm Springs, CA. His first job upon college graduation was a news wire service reporter for the City News Bureau of Chicago.
Jeff’s educational credentials include a Bachelor of Science, University of Colorado, Boulder, and a Master of Business Administration (MBA), Claremont Graduate University (Peter F. Drucker Graduate Center), Claremont, CA. He is a Certified Business Intermediary (CBI) through the International Business Broker’s Association (IBBA) and a licensed California Real Estate Broker (ID Number 01904558), a requirement to sell businesses in the state.
In addition to his national trade affiliations, he is a member of the Sacramento Chapter of Vistage International and the Sacramento Metro Chamber of Commerce.
